POEM: Ordinary

I thought it would be more

this fleeting draft of time.I imagined I’d be cooler, polished, more refined.

Little did I know

It doesn’t happen like in the movies

Like a shero

Finding love and all else falls into place

Instead, it’s a constant work in progress,

laced with mistakes,

a big mosaic of trials

Never did I imagine

this is what I would do

for the dreams live within me,

Captivated by the moment, and all the things to do

Bound by reality

And although love surrounds me,

I can’t help but wonder—

what of the paths I never took,

the words left unspoken,

the life I never dared to live

Now, it feels too late

But it isn’t, is it?

A fleeting moment in time,

a glimpse of what might have been,

an invitation to imagine

my life in a dream

of all those tiny whispers

shooting free

I don’t dream of a happily ever after,

Or a fairy-tale wedding with perfect bows.

What I crave is a life untamed—

chasing horizons

a tale of wild, romantic love,

and adventures ever after “
