RECIPE: HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY LEMON SODA

Lately homemade soda pops have gained massive popularity, and for good reason. As consumers look for healthier, more customizable alternatives to store-bought sodas, they are turning to homemade versions that not only taste amazing but also offer endless possibilities for flavor combinations. These fresh, creative beverages are a great way to enjoy a refreshing treat while avoiding artificial additives and excess sugar found in many mass-produced sodas, and also works well as good mocktails.

  • Glass or pitcher
  • Spoon for stirring

  3. Stir in 30 ml of sugar or honey (optional) to taste.
  4. Pour in 240 ml of club soda and stir gently.
  5. Add ice cubes and garnish with strawberry slices and lemon wedges.

Tips:

  • Muddle the strawberries or blend them to create a smoother texture.
  • Adjust sweetness to your preference with sugar or honey.
  • Garnish with strawberry slices and lemon wedges for a fresh look.

Add Cream:

Shopping List:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for flavor)

Supplies Needed:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer (or whisk if doing by hand)
  • Measuring spoons

Instructions:

  1. Chill your bowl and beaters: For best results, place your mixing bowl and beaters (or whisk) in the fridge for about 15 minutes before whipping.
  2. Add the cream: Pour 240 ml of heavy cream into the chilled bowl.
  3. Sweeten (optional): Add 2 tablespoons powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the cream if you’d like sweetened whipped cream.
  4. Whip the cream: Using an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat the cream for 2-4 minutes until soft peaks form. If you don’t have a mixer, you can whisk by hand, but it will take a little longer.
  5. Check consistency: Once you see soft peaks form (the cream holds its shape but is still slightly floppy), stop whipping. Be careful not to over-whip, or it could turn into butter.
  6. Top your drinks: Spoon or pipe the whipped cream onto your sodas or desserts for a creamy finish.

Tips:

  • Use heavy cream with at least 36% fat for the best texture.
  • For flavored whipped cream, you can add other flavorings like cocoa powder, cinnamon, or a splash of liqueur to customize.
  • If you prefer a thicker whipped cream, whip a little longer but be cautious not to overdo it.

Enjoy your fresh whipped cream on top of your fruit sodas or floats!
